For 70 years, we have been serving alongside communities and amplifying their voices when and where it is most needed. We have joined together with countless Christians, churches and people of all faiths and none who are committed to tackling poverty and injustice. We hope you will join us.

Masika's story

Surviving

“Masika”, 12, is an orphan of war in eastern DRC. One day she walked towards the field where her parents were picking beans. She saw her father and mother surrounded by rebels in the distance and ran for her life as they were murdered. “A few months later I felt brave enough to go look for them,” Masika says. “And I found their bones in the bushes. They were buried and I went to live with my grandmother.”

Masika's story

Recovering

Masika is receiving psychosocial and educational support at a World Vision Child Friendly Space. She says, “At first, I couldn’t join the other children because I was still feeling very sorry about my parents. But now we play together, and the group sessions make me feel so much better. I like this place so much because I can be with friends... dance with them and it makes me happy again. They also teach us how to respect each other.”

Masika's story

Thriving

Thanks to the support of people like you, Masika has moved from just surviving, to dreaming of thriving. “They also teach us to read, how to write and we get some training so I can complete my education and get a job in the future. I need to be supported with my education, to complete it. When I grow up, I want to be a school mistress. I also want to be a big boss and have a lot of money. I would help my friends. I would help people with my money.”
