With the Rising GANG Related crimes in Botshabelo, Mangaung Metro Municipality, The Department of Social Development under the Moral Regeneration umbrella joined forces with various departments such as World Vision, Men of voices including the Premier’s Office to fight this scourge. Five gang leaders were summoned to a meeting, under the watchful eyes and assistance of SAPS to find out what it is that they really want and what is the cause of all these actions. Poverty and unemployment were amongst their reasons. “In these gangs we get a sense of belonging, we get food and money which is what we will never get at home or elsewhere”, said a Member of the infamous Maberet member.

The Moral Regeneration Member team under the watchful eye of Mr Sememeru Masemola proposed a Summit approach to these young boys. The Summit will be aimed at ‘transforming victims into victors’ which happens to be the theme of the program.
The Deputy Mayor of Mangaung Me Connie Rampai urged the youth to stop these actions and informed them that her office doors are forever open and they will assist in way that they can. “We are here for you; we are a municipality for the people”, said Me Rampai.
The transformation camp is set to be held from 25 Nov 2013 to 29 Nov 2013. A group of 40 gang members are to be camped for rehabilitation, skills development and capacity building with the assistance of World Vision and the Moral Regeneration Movement
