As one of the official charity organisations of the Comrades Marathon Association (CMA), World Vision has secured an exhibition stand at the Bonitas Comrades Expo (at the Durban International Conference Centre (ICC). Opened Thursday to Saturday, the expo presents organisations and companies with an opportunity to promote their work and attract potential supporters. From the World Vision stand the public can show support towards community development work done by WV, by purchasing the following items: beadwork, beanies, silicon wrist bands, magnetic picture frames, string bags and t-shirts.Runners are also encouraged to sign up as World Vision’s supporters for next year’s Comrades race (and hopefully also other major marathon races).Child sponsorship is also promoted and more information on World Vision available for those who want to browse through. “Our involvement with Comrades mean so much more and the expo assist us to reach out to individuals with Corporate/Business/CSR links and/or SMME owners who would like to consider partnering with us at some level - to be followed through after the Comrades”, said World Vision SA National Director, Paula Barnard.
27 World Vision runners from the USA and those who come from different provinces of the country will be among more than 19 000 courageous athletes that will be running the 88th edition a grueling 89 km race, to be run from Durban to Pietermaritzburg on Sunday. “We wish all the runners all the best for Sunday, we believe they will do wonderfully, and that World Vision runners will be strengthened by the knowledge that through their laborious experience, they are actively bringing a lasting change to the lives of children and communities who need them the most”, concluded Barnard.
