 1.   DEVELOPMENT FACILITATOR (Umzimvubu, KZN)

Position description:

.        To actively search for new partners within and outside the community, identify how these partners can work together towards shared priorities for child well-being and initiate, develop and manage partnership arrangements with them. Facilitate an empowering approach to formation and ongoing capacity building of new and existing community organizations for holistic sustainable development.

·         To build the capacity of WV and partner community groups.  To facilitate community (including children) to participate in the gathering of, reflection upon and learning from local information. Support community partners to define monitoring process and indicators for mutual learning and accountability with WV in project implementation and capacity building. Facilitate networking relationships with government, church, faith-based organization leaders and other key partners. 

·         Actively support Lead Development Facilitator in project planning, implementation, monitoring and reporting processes relevant to assigned areas.  Ensure that gender and child protection and other cross-cutting themes such as peace building, disability, and Christian commitment, are integrated within WV initiatives in their assigned communities.  Raise awareness and facilitate critical analysis of community issues and opportunities.  Facilitate visioning and planning processes with community members – especially the most vulnerable, and within community based groups.

·         To facilitate community partners to prioritize projects based on opportunity, needs and community capacities.  Assist with DME of prioritized projects.  Identify technical project and program needs at appropriate times through the lifespan of the programme. Assist stakeholders and community partners to identify and mobilize community resources needed for project implementation.

·         To develop strong understanding of local politics and how it affects development processes.  To be flexible and adaptable and grow and transform as civil society groups and organizations also grow and become stronger. To ensure timely quality monthly management reports that articulate progression of achievement towards outputs and outcomes. To be an active Team Player.  Actively participate in the preparation of the DIP and budget.  Ensure that both Operational and Finance audit findings are implemented timely on the ground.

 

Minimum Qualification and experience required:

BA/Bsc Degree in Economics, Agriculture, Business administration, Development studies/planning, Social Science or other related field. Minimum 3 years’ experience in program/project related field. Strong understanding of community-led development work.  Solid understanding of design, monitoring, and evaluation. At least three years’ previous relevant experience, including at least one year of development facilitation in and with communities. Capacity building, adult education, organizational capacity development.  Knowledge of Child Rights and Responsibilities.

2.      SPONSORSHIP PROGRAMMING FACILITATOR – x2 (Umvoti (KZN) and Paarl (WC)

Position description:

 

 

·         To facilitate effective and constructive relationships between children, sponsors and families through working with community-based structures to empower them in sponsorship processes. Work with stakeholders/partners in a range of child centered development relationships and activities towards the well-being of children in the communities. To communicate effectively World Vision’s sponsorship standards with Support Offices and our approach to work in ways that are contextually appropriate and clear to community structures.  Facilitate child participation in age appropriate programming activities in the ADPs in conjunction with other sector heads (finance, DME other DFs) and community based structures.

·          To facilitate and ensure effective management of STEP/SD businesses processes in the ADPs, ensuring that results are used across sectors working with Programme Quality on data analysis to inform field programming. Facilitate the organization and coordination of meetings and workshops with community and other partners. Ensure compliance to set sponsorship standards, procedures and policies, and formulate child monitoring strategies, integrating them with other ADP programming activities. To facilitate development of programme appropriate child registration, selection, retention and growth strategies together with CBOs.

·         To empower partner and community groups to deliver on sponsorship KPIs. To identify and respond to community training needs in relation to Education and Health activities for children in the ADP. Educate and raise awareness of communities on integration between sponsorship and general community development. Assist communities and partners to prepare and implement community-managed disaster preparedness plans around child friendly spaces.

·         Provide leadership and support to the Community sponsorship workers (CBOs/Volunteers) and Sponsorship Systems Admin. 

Minimum Qualification and experience required:

At least a Bachelor’s Degree in Social Sciences/Education/Health.  Strong understanding of community-led development work.  At least three years’ previous relevant experience, including at least one year of development facilitation in and with communities.  A general understanding of cross functional areas of development. Driver’s License an advantage.  Computer literacy in Lotus notes, MS Word, Excel, Power point.
