WASH
In partnership with AMREF Germany, WVSA aimed to increase access to Water, Sanitation and Hygiene (WASH) services for the targeted vulnerable community of Ga-Sekororo in Limpopo.
The goal of the intervention was to limit the spread of COVID-19 infection, while contributing to the prevention and management of infectious diseases (including COVID-19) and deterring the prevalence of water-borne diseases resulting from poor hygiene practices and sanitation.
The project included the UNICEF Tippy-Tap campaign, installation of 5 turnkey handwashing stations, provision of hand washing supplies and awareness creation to 2 primary schools, 2 high schools and a local clinic; on handwashing, hygiene practices and basic tippy tap construction using locally available materials.
The initiative benefited over 2046 children and community members and contributes to child protection by protecting the right to basic services and protection against preventable diseases.
