The Sereni Bakery Project
The Sereni Bakery Project is located in the Sereni Village in the Limpopo Province of South Africa.
The project was started in 2016 and consists of three women aged 41, 36 and 57, plus two youths aged 22.
The bakery has limited resources, making do with a small stove and are thus only able to produce about 200 buns per day.
They would bake bread regularly too, however with just the one small stove it is not often possible to do both.
They supply community members and some shops in the area but with better resources they feel that there is a larger market they could potentially reach.
With monthly earnings of approximately R 5,000, which they currently reinvest in the business to service their equipment and also to fence off the site they plan to operate from, the members feel that with a little help they could do so much more.
Sereni Bakery are currently using a classroom in the local school for their bakery project while getting the site that belongs to the members properly fenced off and prepared.
